Beware of FID International

These people kept increasing the cost of my move.
They claim I am in default of my contract because I had not completed my payment.
I NEVER received a final invoice or any invoice for that matter prior to this past due/default notice, which still didn't include my balance.
I had to ask them for it two or three times.
I have never even received a revised quote.
They have added a lot of charges that were supposed to be included in the quote.
Nancy Roberts of FID International kept sending me terse and intimidating emails threatening to put an additional $500 hold fee on my shipment and to hold my shipment up if I didn't send them all the money they wanted within 24 hours.
I informed her that I intended to contact the BBB and dispute the amount.
She still insisted on the payment.
Before the move, I authorized a deposit payment of $1405.00 to FID International from my American Express card.
American Express informs me they took $1641.20 US dollars.

They botched the pickup.
It was supposed to be August 22nd.
The first mover called on the 21st wanting a credit card number and wondering if there was any furniture in the move.
FID International was supposed to pay the mover.
He forwarded me his email from FID International and indeed they did not send him the complete list.
They did not get a mover there until the 26th.
My sister had flown to Memphis from D.C. to close the estate and take care of this move for me. They cost her additional days off work and she had to reschedule everything else.

They only sent one (1) person and my 46 year old sister had to help him with the heavy lifting.
I heard nothing until September 10th when they sent the default notice.
The original quote plus my authorized add-ons was $2795.00.
The last estimation I received was for $3865.
They also insisted I pay $350 for a crate for a granite table.
This was on my original list of items, and a quote was given to include it.
It was only later after thinking about it and trying to figure out a way to jack up my bill that they came up with this.
After paying the $1641.20, I should have owed around $2600.
They insisted on $3372.85 or they would slap me with a hold fee of $500 and hold up my shipment.

I thought I had thoroughly researched them online before signing up. Since then, there are numerous complaints to be found about them and their practices. BEWARE!

We used these clowns FID International in 2007 to move over to Oz.
They were were easy to deal with until we paid their charges, which included the traditional unquoted extras.
After that the guy went AWOL and palmed us off onto a girl who was useless.

The consignment arrived three weeks late, in the interim the wife, our three kids and me were camping out in a friends apartment sleeping on the floor.

There must be better moving companies than this out there.

FID International Avoid at all costs

This is one sleazy operation!!!!
We requested a quote through a website for moving household goods from the US to the UK and received a telephone call from Ron at FID International.
We received a quote from FID International couple of days later, which we accepted.
Later on I found out this gentleman is actually called Dave, and also by then realized why he operates under an alias.

We signed a contract with FID International which included wrapping the furniture, loading this into a container, shipping this to the UK, and delivering and unloading the contents to our address in the UK for a fixed price.

First the movers arrived a day early to load, which was not a great start as we were still packing the boxes and were not ready.
A different crew returned the following day, and then stood around for three and half hours waiting for the container which was late.
Once the container was loaded they left leaving this unsecured in the street!

A couple of weeks later, whilst the goods were in transit, we received an email from the company advising that they were charging an extra $1,500 over the contract price as the container had taken longer to load than expected.
They also charged for packing boxes, even though none were supplied.
When speaking to the President I explained that the contract did not provide for any of these extra charges, to which he retorted “I don’t care what the contract says, I am not losing money on moving your goods”.
He repeatedly refused to deliver our goods until this was paid and tried to claim that he had told Ron/Dave to renegotiate the price two days before the move, and as he had not done this, he was responsible for any problems.

The crew they hired in the UK, were professional.
After a couple of hours the foreman asked me to come and look at something.
He showed me our nearly new king size bed which had been loaded unwrapped and unprotected (although we paid for the beds to be wrapped) and was dirty and torn.
In addition they had somehow managed to lose parts of the base, presumably as a result of throwing these in the container loose.
Needless to say, my requests for compensation for the ruined bed have gone completely unanswered and I am now hiring an attorney in Florida to sue.

I only wish I had taken the time to check these people out online before contracting with them my experience appears totally consistent with that of other victims.

FID International - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
